Welcome to Chibi Town and Jo-Chan's Corner!

What's a Chibi? Simply put, it's a style of caricature that started in Japan in which the characters are drawn with really big heads and tiny bodies to make them look childlike and very cute. Known more often as SD or super-deformed in Japan, it's commonly referred to as "chibi" in the US, from the Japanese word for "small.". By "chibi-ing" a character or person, you're doing a caricature or parody of them, but one that's not insulting or demeaning - just adorable :-).

For Fanart Chibi Keychains, Bookmarks, Window Stickies, and Stickers as well as Art Prints, Address Labels, and Chibis of Yourself, please click through the links on the left in the Chibi Town store.

For viewing Chibis drawn of real-life people, my cel gallery, Fan Art, Fan Fiction, and Sanosuke's travels, please click through the links on the right in Jo-Chan's Corner. (Some are currently under construction-will be up when I get off my lazy derriere and just do it)

Thanks for stopping by!

News and Updates

June 27, 2009

Yes, I am ashamed. No, it's not the site that's inactive - just me. I've already started preparing for AWA in September, and I have a whole new and completely original chibi project that I will be unveiling there. I'll probably start teasing out some hints as it gets closer, but for now you'll just have to wait :-).

One VERY IMPORTANT thing that I need to post - I will be on vacation and off the grid from July 7-July 19. Please do not get mad if you e-mail me during this time and don't receive a response. I will not be checking e-mails or working on any commissions during this time. I hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone, but it's been 16 months since I've been on a vacation - I think I'm due ;-).

Even though I'm saving my new chibis and my new project for AWA, there are two random pieces of Fan Art I thought I'd go ahead and post. I've been re-watching the old X-Men TV series as its been released on DVD, and I was inspired to do some (non-chibi) drawings of a couple of my old faves.

Gambit
- My absolute favorite character, done in ink and black and white markers, with a few highlights added with Photoshop (click for larger view)

Gambit and Rogue - My absolute favorite couple, done in ink, with coloring (inspired by Gankutsuou) all done in Photoshop (click for larger view)

No, I'm not dead, just neglectful of the site when there are so many other things in my personal life that have to take priority. Mea culpa, minna-san.

I will be at MomoCon at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA, next weekend, in a much smaller version of my normal setup. I will still be drawing chibis of anyone who wants one and making buttons of your name in Japanese, and I will have buttons and stickers available of all my many fanart chibis (including quite a few not posted here). However, since I was only able to secure a 1/2 table, the bookmarks, keychains, and window stickies are going to have to stay at home.

If you're interested in those items, though, come by my booth anyway and I'll let you in on a special offer I'll be running only at the con. :-)

Sorry again about the delay - my next order of business will be posting my more recent "at-con" chibis.

Totally Non-Chibi Related Sidenote: I went and saw Push this weekend, and I quite liked it. I'm not sure why I saw so many bad reviews for it, but I'm glad I ignored them and went anyway. It was definitely a lot better than I expected - who knows, it might surprise you, too :-).

Jo-Chan

September 15, 2008

I'm trying to finish up some updates before I get consumed with the convention and then my new house, so here's another one for you guys. I have little chibi caracatures of three of the main cast of Heroes in their original outfits from the first season.
