AWA 2006 - Sunday

I have to digress from chibi-related stories to tell a personal con experience - one that made my day :-).

My aunt and I had been working my table practically the whole con. The one thing that we missed out on that we really missed was getting to see Travis Willingham and Vic Mignogna. We've both had the chance to talk to Vic at quite a few different cons (always a pleasure) and he's even bought things from my booth, but my aunt realized she had never got his autograph any of the times we've met. I had been dying to meet Travis, as he voices Mustang (my fave character from FullMetal Alchemist), and I hadn't even seen him, let alone spoke with him or asked for his autograph.

To make it worse, Travis had walked past my table a couple of times and said hello in passing to my aunt, but it was always when I was in the bathroom, getting food, etc. By the end of the con, it had become a running joke.

Well, as the con is closing down and we're packing up and getting ready to go, I decide to head to the bathroom before we leave. I'm gone all of 2 minutes, but when I get back, my aunt has this look on her face.

"You're not going to believe this."

"Don't even say it."

"He walked by again."

"You have GOT to be kidding me!"

"Wait a sec, though. He went into that room right there to take a call. When he comes out, maybe we can get his attention."

So, when he came out, we waved hello, he was nice enough to come over, and we got to chat a bit. He also signed one of my Mustang fanart prints for me, saying it was "awesome work."

That would have been enough to make my day, but not 5 minutes later, Vic walks by. We waved hi, and he came over to talk. When we thanked him for stopping, he said of course, since we were "always so nice." And yes, my aunt finally got his autograph.

So, despite the fact that we were certain that we wouldn't even get to see either one of them, we got to see them away from the crowds of fangirls, had very nice conversations, and got autographs from both of them. And yes, they are both very nice and very cute ;-).

Perfect end to a great con :-).
